Why parts of speeches are important?

Parts of speech are the main part of English grammar so if you want to improve your English then you must master these parts of speech. Today in this blog we are going to read about the meaning, examples and use of all eight parts of speech which will help you in improving your English. So, lets start our journey.

Parts of Speech are: -

  7. Conjunction
  8. Interjection

What is Noun?

Noun is a name of any person, place, or thing. Noun is a naming word.

Kinds/Types of Noun: -
  1. Proper Noun
  2. Common Noun
  3. Collective Noun
  4. Material Noun
  5. Abstract Noun
Example of noun: -
 Adam, London, Cat, Ganga etc.

What is Pronoun?

Pronoun is a word is used for noun. Pronoun means "for noun".

Kinds/types of pronoun: -
  1. Personal  pronoun
  2. Impersonal pronoun
  3. Possessive pronoun
  4. Reflexive pronoun
  5. Emphatic pronoun
  6. Demonstrative pronoun
  7. Indefinite pronoun
  8. Distributive pronoun
  9. Reciprocal pronoun
  10. Relative pronoun
  11. Interrogative pronoun
  12. Exclamatory pronoun
Example of Pronoun: - 
I, He, She, They, We, It etc.


What is Adjective?

An Adjective is a word which qualifies a noun or pronoun.

Kinds/types of Adjective: -
  1. Adjective of quality 
  2. Adjective of quantity
  3. Adjective of number
  4. Demonstrate adjective
  5. Distributive adjective
  6. Interrogative adjective
  7. Possessive adjective
Examples of Adjective: -
words like good, bad, wise, fool, hot, cold etc.
Ron is a good boy.
Alice is wise girl.

What is Verb?

A verb is a word is used for doing or saying something.

Kinds/types of Verb: -
  1. Principle  verb
  2. Auxiliary verb
Example of verb: -
Principle verb- go, read, play, drink, come etc.
Auxiliary verb- is, am, are, has, have etc. 


What is Adverb?

Adverb qualifies a verb, an adjective or an adverb.

Kinds/ types of Adverb: -
  1. Adverb of time
  2. Adverb of place
  3. Adverb of manner
  4. Adverb of number
  5. Adverb of quantity
  6. Adverb of reason
  7. Adverb of affirmation/ Negation
Example of Adverb: -
Ron gets up early.
Please, come here.

What is Preposition?

A Preposition shows relation between two words.

Kinds/Types of Preposition: -

  1. Simple prepositions
  2. Double prepositions
  3. Compound prepositions
  4. Participle prepositions
  5. Phrase prepositions
Example of Preposition: -
in, of, along, behind, for, up, to etc.

What is Conjunction?

A Conjunction joins two words or sentences.

Kinds of Conjunction: -
  1. Coordinating conjunction
  2. Subordinating conjunction 
  3. Correlative conjunction
Example of  Conjunction: -
and, that, but, if, yet, for, though etc.

What is Interjection?

An Interjection expresses some sudden feelings.

Kinds/ types of Interjection: -
There are many types of interjection like Interjection of greeting, interjection of joy etc.

Example of Interjection: -
Hurrah !, Hail  !, What ! etc.
